Hello, my name is Yun-Ju :)
I'm an oil pastel landscape artist from Taiwan.
Inspired by the beauty of our earth, I draw places beyond the horizon — places I haven’t been yet — and travel the world through drawing using my favorite medium, oil pastels.
Through capturing breathtaking views in my drawings, I feel as if I’ve already wandered there and experienced the quiet, miraculous beauty of our planet.
I started Draw Beyond the Horizon to follow my dream — to draw and explore beautiful places beyond horizon, and to meet people through my art while capturing the beauty of our world along the way.
Through my work, I hope to inspire you to create, see the beauty of our world, and find joy in the process of making art.

Where It All Began
Art and nature have always been at the heart of my life.
I’ve always been drawn to the majestic beauty of nature — grand mountains, vast oceans, and starry galaxies that feel far away, yet peaceful, these are the things that move me most. Nature has always been the main inspiration behind everything I create.
Since childhood, drawing, sculpting, and painting were the things I naturally spent most of my free time doing. So when the time came to choose my path, I followed my heart and moved to Canada to study art abroad.
During college, I focused mainly on sculpture. Oil pastel actually came into my life a few years after graduating from art college.
Finding My Way
Like many people, my career path wasn’t clear at first. After graduating from art college in Canada, I returned home to Taiwan to be closer to my family and figure out what kind of creative life I truly wanted.
Over the years, I worked in different creative fields, from UI design to copywriting and content creation, yet deep down, something still felt missing. I kept asking myself: What truly gives me a sense of fulfillment and purpose?
Then unexpectedly, I found my way into teaching art to children. And that experience quietly changed me.
Seeing their joy, freedom, and honest way of creating reminded me why art matters. It was never about being perfect, it was about the pure joy of creating, expressing yourself freely, and finding happiness in the process.
For the first time, I truly felt a sense of purpose through sharing and teaching art.
A New Beginning
Life shifted again, and I found myself at another turning point.
On a random day, something simple yet profound happened, I discovered oil pastels. From the very first touch, I fell completely in love with the medium.
The richness of the colors and the soft, creamy texture felt so alive to me. Layering oil pastel almost feels like sculpting, every drawing stroke feels like slowly building and shaping something by hand. Creating this way brought me back to something pure, nostalgic, and childlike.
In many ways, oil pastel became the perfect combination of my love for sculpture and drawing — and that’s why I fell so deeply in love with it! ❤️
What I Do Now
Today, I create oil pastel landscapes inspired by nature, travel, and imagination.
Through working with oil pastels, I rediscovered why I started creating art in the first place: To capture the beauty of nature.
To remember the quiet miracles of our earth.
To feel something beautiful about our world — and share that feeling with others.
Now, I share my full art process and oil pastel tutorials online, hoping to inspire others to see the beauty of our world and reconnect with creativity in a simple, childlike, and joyful way.
Because I truly believe art is not just about creating something beautiful or perfect.
It’s about feeling something real, sharing beautiful views with people, and bringing the joy of art into our everyday lives! :)
